Bringing Home Aubrey

Most of you now that Miss Aubrey has been born....and I have had NO time to do the blog, but I thought I would try to update today while she napped. I will give you a brief run down of the last crazy 2 weeks....
Sunday 10th-
Jamie and I went to the hospital in the afternoon because I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid....we were sent home. In retrospect we think my water was really broken, I will get to that....
Monday 11th
I woke up at 4am to my water REALLY breaking and to a very hard contraction...I wasn't sure if I had wet the bed, I just couldn't make up my mind....then the contractions started to get closer so I told Jamie I thought my water was broken and I wanted to shower before we left...he went back to bed! In the shower my contractions came fast with in 30 minutes of my water breaking they were every 4-5 min. apart....Jamie comes into the bathroom and asks if I am okay...I tell him it's time and he says..."Time for what"!!!! It was comical....we got in the Van and Jamie had the hazards on and was flying because I was really laboring and holding onto the car handle! We got behind a cop and Jamie flashed him out of the way...Thank God we didn't get pulled over! At that moment I thought....my life is a freaking movie right now!

We got to the hospital and my water was broken and I was 3 1/2 cm dilated...I had been 1 1/2 the night before. I told them to get the Epidural man! We had some problems getting the epidural in and then my blood pressure bottomed out....but once we got settled life was really good!

By noon I was 8cm and by 4pm I was fully dilated...so we started pushing....I pushed for 2 1/2 hours. Aubrey was trying to get her hand and head out at the same time! Jamie was an awesome coach and he actually watched and cut the cord! He was so wonderful!

She was born at 6:19pm and weighed 7lbs 4oz and was 20 in long...

At delivery I was running fever so she had to be put on Antibiotics for couple of days...that is why we think my water was probably broken the night before...

We came home that Thursday and she was on a bili bed because she was jaundiced...she had lost down to 6lbs 13 oz so we had to start supplementing her with formula...She stayed on the bili bed for 5 days and that was a big pain in the butt!

The Saturday after we got home I began having some bleeding problems so Jamie and I had to pack up the baby and go to the ER at midnight! Jamie had to sleep in the van with the baby because I was NOT taking my 6 day old in some nasty ER! What an great Daddy! Luckily she slept the whole time!

Now the poor thing has thrush so we are both having to be treated for that...fun! And after several nights of horrible colic we got some wonderful drops that made her a whole new baby!

We finally have the whole breastfeeding thing down now....don't EVER let anyone tell you that is easy, if they do they are LYING!

Sooooo.....that is the long saga of bringing home Aubrey! I think because I had a good pregnancy we are getting paid back some how!

She had a check up on Monday and she is up to 7lbs 30z now, with only breastfeeding.

I can't thank my friends and family enough for all the support they have given us over the last few weeks and months....it's been a rocky start, but we are hoping we are getting a handle on things now......

Jamie is the BEST Daddy, he is sooo in love with her! We are not sure where in the heck all her dark hair came from, Jamie keeps asking me if we should call her real dad and let him know she's here so he can send us a check!
She is wonderful baby. She is sooo alert when she is awake and really only fusses when she's hungry and her diaper needs changing.

I hope to update every couple of weeks, but as you know it may be longer....here are some pics:
You can also go to the hospital website and see her photos...just follow the instructions...

The weigh in...

Week 38 Update

First let me say Aubrey did not make an entrance on Saturday for Jamie's birthday as he had hoped! But, we went to the doctor yesterday and I have dilated just a smidge more....I am 1 1/2 cm now. The doctor performed a procedure called "sweeping the membranes" that can sometimes put women into labor. I have had much harder contractions overnight, but not anything regular. Aubrey's heart rate was in the 130's and she was very active! Now that I am off from work I will have to walk alot to see if I can get things going! If little Miss Aubrey is not here by next week the doctor is scheduling an induction for Tues. or Wednesday....!!! Yeah! WoooHooo! Very exciting stuff! Will let you know.... So now it's the hurry up and wait game!
A BIG THANK YOU to Jamie's coworkers who got together and had a suprise shower for him last week! They gave us some wonderful gifts! It was such a nice suprise! I have included some pics below.
Here's what's going on this week: Aubrey has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color her eyes will be? If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. I have brown and Jamie has Hazel so who knows......
