32 Week Update....Lots Happening!

So much has been going on the last week......Let's see, we have nearly finished the nursery, we just have one or two little things to complete! Jamie has been nesting just as much as me! He's been cleaning out closets and storing things in the attic like a crazy man! It's great!
We had our last birthing class last night. Last night focused on baby care things like bathing and swaddling. Jamie's got the swaddling thing down to a science! He also put on the empathy belly to see what it's like to walk around with all that belly weight and try to do housework and move around in the bed! The video below is sooo funny!
Well, I finally gave in......we bought a Minivan! We got the Honda Odessey and I hate to admit it.....I LOVE IT! We got the one with all the bells and whistles and she's a beauty! I have officially crossed over to serious Mommyhood now! heeheeheee!
Here's what's going on this week: By now, she weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in my uterus. I'm gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to my baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

Here's the armour and the chair...

Here's the nursery!

Hope you can see this....it says:
"My prince did come....his name is Daddy"
Here's Jamie trying on the Empathy Belly!
And trying to do a little "house work"....
And trying to roll over in bed.....

Here's the new Minivan.....

Week 31 Update

First off let me wish all you dads out there a belated but Happy Father's Day! Hope you all had a relaxing one!
I saw the doctor yesterday and everything is just fine. Aubrey's heart rate was 147 and she was very active. She is measuring right at 31 weeks. My blood pressure is great and I feel good. I head back for another check up in 2 weeks. I am starting to tire out again pretty easily like in the begining, but it's okay! She has been quite the active girl the last few mornings....she has gotten me up between 4 and 4:30 am kicking and squirming....just a sign of things to come!

We have been working hard on the nursery and things are very close to the finish line.....

In the bookcase on the bottom is a Snoopy pillow that was Jamie's as a child and my "woobie" (security blanket) that went EVERYWHERE with me when I was a child and of course I had to put a piece of legacy from my sorority in case she goes through rush some day....Lord help us all!
Here's what's going on this week: She measures over 16 inches long. She weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. She's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

There she is! My belly is really getting on out there!
Have a great week!

30 Week Update

As you have seen we have been busy this week working on Aubrey's room. Things are coming together and I can't believe how the time is starting to fly by! Our next big hurdle will be finding a new vehicle....to Mini Van or not to Mini Van that is the question! The Brethine the doctor prescribed is working well and I have had far less contractions throughout the day. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Here's the latest:
She's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in my uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.) I can't wait to see those beautiful little eyes! I wonder if she will end up with brown or hazel? Only time will tell!

Workin' Hard!

I got started painting all the furniture. It's a tedious but fun task. I hope to be done with everything by next weekend. I forgot to take pictures of the the toy chest and bookcase before I got started, but I have included some pictures of the progress below. We headed over to Mobile today and picked up the chair and crib! I can't believe it's the same chair! She did a great job! Thanks to John and Jennifer for the use of your truck!
We went to our second birthing class on Wed. and it's going great. I think Jamie is really learning alot! I know he is going to be a great labor coach and support person. He's already come up with a cheer for me.....Push it out, Push it out, way out, HEY! (I think I might hit him if he actually does it!) hahahahaha. We have met some really nice couples who are due with their first around the same time we are so it's nice to go through this with others.
Have a great weekend!

29 Week Update

Okay, we are in our last trimester and doing great! Unfortunately, Jamie and I have been sick with head colds for the last several days. But she is very active, I can actually see my belly move when she does! I went to the doctor on Monday for a checkup. Aubrey's heartrate was 155 and she is measuring 29-30 weeks. I have been having several Braxton Hicks contractions a day and the doctor started me on a medication call Brethine to help prevent them. We head back for another check up in 2 more weeks.

Aubrey's crib came in today and we hope to pick it and the chair up on Thursday or Friday. I went out today and bought all the stuff to paint the armour, bookcase and the toychest. The toychest is actually one that my Grandfather built for my brother nearly 40 years ago! Thanks Dad for sanding it down for us! I will post pictures of our progress this week!

Here's the latest in what's happening: She is almost 17 inches tall now, nearly as tall as she will be at birth (like a butternut squash), and close to three pounds (a weight that will likely more than double — and may even come close to tripling — by delivery time). Her wrinkled skin is smoothing out as more fat is deposited under the skin surface. This fat, called white fat, is different from the earlier brown fat that your baby accumulated. Brown fat is necessary for body temperature regulation while white fat (the fat you have, Mom) actually serves as an energy source.
Which explains why your energizer baby feels so…well…energized! Space in her living quarters is now at a premium, so you'll be feeling jabs and pokes from elbows and knees mostly. But those kicks will be more vigorous than before (and also less erratic) because she is stronger and excitedly responding to all sorts of stimuli — movement, sounds, light, and that candy bar you ate half an hour ago.

She's really poking out there now!
